Why Ballet?
The art of classical ballet holds many benefits to those practicing it. Some of the benefits of practicing ballet:

It develops long, lean and supple muscles, as opposed to short, bulky and stiff muscles - It improves posture and other physical deviations

- It teaches good etiquette, orderliness and good social values/skills It nurtures musicality and an appreciation for classical music and art

- It provides a good foundation for other dance forms and styles.
Cecchetti Method
The Cecchetti Method consists not only of a syllabus or system of training as with other ballet training. It is a Method of training, based on scientific and anatomical principles, ensuring the safest and most effective possible training of classical ballet technique. It also focuses on the utmost development of both technique and artistry within any and all aspiring dancers, regardless of physique or physical ability.
The Cecchetti Method gave rise to many other systems of training that exist today.
Let's introduce ourselves!
Alicia and Celesté have danced since the age of 4. They received training in the Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet from 2007 until 2017 when they completed their Advanced II. They both qualified for every Cecchetti Major Award up to Advanced II. In 2014 Celesté was runner-up for Advanced I and, in 2017, Alicia was runner-up for Advanced II. Celeste was also Advanced II RAD runner-up bursary award in 2017. In the same year they competed as semi-finalists in the Cyril Beaumont Bursary Award.
In 2020, Alicia and Celesté received their Associate training with Zanelle Scholtz. They now hold Associate status in the Cecchetti Society of Southern Africa, having achieved 97.5% and 95% for their examinations in 2021.
Alicia & Celesté Annandale
They have received respectable results in their students' in examinations with a 100% pass rate. They have both participated in various competitions, summer and winter schools as well as productions and shows, including a professional production of Giselle with the Joburg Ballet Company in 2016. Alicia and Celesté are currently in training for their Associate Diploma as well as the Maestro Enrico Cecchetti Diploma (the highest award of the Cecchetti Society).
Alicia and Celeste are also pianists and have completed their grade 8 practical examination in classical piano at UNISA in 2018. In the same year they were both awarded the Hennie Joubert Merit Award for top two candidates nationwide for their outstanding performance in their grade 6 music theory examinations.
Alicia and Celesté are distinction candidates in their dance, music and academic pursuits. They are part of the alumni of the University of Pretoria, as Masters Degree Graduates within the Visual Arts Department, and have received multiple awards and bursaries for their outstanding academic performance. Celesté is also a qualified Pilates instructor.
